A tear-jerker.

Gizmo is an old dog that can no longer function normally.

I like the illustrations and formatting. The pictures were unique. They looked like they were painted or made with oil pastels. The ending information about veterinarians was shocking. This story is realistic, even describing Gizmo’s bad breath because he was an old dog.

The Mice of Dumpler: Horatio’s Gold Rush by Chris Weld

Great.

Having first read Jonah’s Adventure, I decided I wanted to read this story as well. This work is different from Jonah’s Adventure, which is a good thing. I thought the illustrations were perfect for the story, and I zoomed right through it. I can picture children and adults enjoying this book, despite it being somewhat lengthy. However, that is not necessarily a bad thing since the story flowed well, and it perhaps gave way for more visuals to be added to the book.

It was great being able to witness Horatio’s ability to influence everyone around him. He has such a knack for digging; readers will be able to relate and may be motivated to discover their own gifts/strengths.

I think this is great for at least one read through, and I recommend it.

The Mice of Dumpler: Jonah’s Adventure by Chris Weld

Entertaining.

Jonah is brave, despite being seven years old. I liked the similarities between an arrog and a creature that I know in real life. The illustrations aided my reading experience, and the book cover is fabulous. That alone lets me overlook the one blemish that I saw in this book, which is mentioned near the end of this review. Props to the illustrator for providing top-notch visuals; they aligned perfectly with the book. The narrative flowed well, and the formatting of this book assisted my reading experience. I would be delighted to read another book from this author.

The only flaw that I saw in this book was spacing errors. However, that did not hamper my reading experience (but it was noticeable).

Beautiful illustrations!

I don’t regret reading this picture book one bit. The visuals are great, the text is easy to see, the rhymes are cute, the message is of this book is touching, and the prose matches the visuals well. I recommend this book for children.

Wow!

Just the illustrations alone made me want to give this book a five-star rating. But when you count on the easy-to-read text, and good narrative? This book is something to behold. I think that the length of this book is perfect. The author added a little extra dialogue at the end of the book to clear any loose ends; I love it. It is a splendid children’s book that kids and adults will enjoy.

An enchanting tale that you’ll enjoy.

Detective Buster Cuffs has an attention-grabbing book cover, and the visuals are outstanding. The illustrations helped immerse me into the story. I like how there isn’t too much text on each page, and you can tell that the author worked hard on this book. I highly recommend this book for children and adults who like quick reads.
